Anas Dauda-Sadauki, a Mass Communications graduate from Bayero University, Kano, has established a non-governmental organization (NGO) called Awareness Against Terrorism to address the issue of youth restiveness in society.
In an interview with DAILY NIGERIAN in Kano, Sadauki disclosed that the organization’s focus is to educate Nigerian youths on how to steer clear of terrorism. He emphasized the need for youths to remain safe so that they can have a better life and future.
“Our main concern is that the youth come together to save our lives because we are the leaders of tomorrow. If we don’t improve our lives, we will surely reap a bad life in the future,” he said.
To achieve their goal, the NGO intends to visit remand homes and prisons to reach out to youths who have committed crimes such as murder, robbery, kidnapping and other vices. They aim to sensitize them and subsequently, enroll those younger than 18 years into schools, providing capital and necessary materials to those willing to start small businesses.
According to Sadauki, they have visited over 25 schools in North West Nigeria, speaking to students on how to avoid falling victim to terrorism. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of their initiative and the success stories they have recorded thus far.
“My advice to Nigerian youths is to stay in peace, avoid terrorism, seek education and business to build a good future. Because in the coming few years, we will be leaders,” he added.
In conclusion, Sadauki’s efforts toward combating terrorism by promoting awareness and educating youths on its dangers and effects cannot be overstated. The establishment of his NGO signifies his willingness to tackle the issue of youth restiveness in Nigeria and position the younger generation for a brighter and safer future.
