The current Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has stated that leaving good memories at the club is a priority when he eventually exits the Emirates Stadium in the future.
Arteta, who replaced Unai Emery as the permanent head coach in December 2019, has already won two major trophies for the Gunners – the FA Cup and the Community Shield, within his first year in charge.
In his two full seasons at the helm, Arsenal finished in eighth place but narrowly missed out on a top-four place finish to their local rivals, Tottenham, during the 2021/2022 campaign.
Although Arteta’s men were at the top of the Premier League table for a significant period in the 2022/2023 season, they are unlikely to clinch the title as Manchester City has already established a comfortable lead.
During a recent interview with Sky Sports, the Arsenal manager shared his desire to work towards creating a positive legacy at the club. Arteta revealed his belief that it will be worthwhile to make the necessary sacrifices to help the Gunners progress upward.
He said, “The moment I leave this door one day and I look back and I come here, I will say we had good times. You know, it was enjoyment working here. It was challenging, it was inspiring, and it was worth all the sacrifices that we make in our lives to put everything that we can to improve the club. That’s for me what it’s about.”
