Chimezie Imo: No Pressure Acting Romantic Roles

Chimezie Imo is a Nollywood actor who has quickly risen to fame. He’s known for often playing the lover boy in movies, but in a recent interview with Sunday Scoop, the actor revealed that it doesn’t come with any pressure.

Imo, who was nominated in the Best Actor in a Drama category of the upcoming Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards, said, “I honestly don’t feel pressure. My job as an actor is to give myself to whatever character I choose to portray to the best of my ability. Any pressure or responsibility I feel when portraying a romantic relationship on screen will be in respect to my craft, not due to cultural and societal expectations.”

In reaction to his AMVCA nomination, Imo expressed his gratitude, saying, “Being recognised for my work is always an honour and privilege I never take for granted. But frankly, to be nominated for an AMVCA for my role in the movie, Choke, feels surreal because the film was a labour of love for everyone involved. When I heard about the nomination, my reaction was that of sheer surprise, followed by absolute joy and immeasurable gratitude.”

It’s clear that Imo is passionate about his craft and takes pride in his ability to fully immerse himself in whatever character he portrays. With this mindset, it’s no surprise that he’s been gaining recognition for his talent in the industry.
