Police operatives in Delta State have arrested a 34-year-old woman for allegedly trading in AK-47 bullets. The suspect was apprehended on Thursday during a raid conducted by the police in Effurun Roundabout, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to the Police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, the arrest was made following actionable intelligence gathered about the woman’s illegal activities. A hundred rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were found during the raid. Edafe added that the investigation is ongoing.
In another development, the police recovered a Lexus SUV and a battle axe, which were abandoned by a suspect who is currently at large. The items were recovered by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad during a stop-and-search duty at Oworigbala Community on Okpara-Oworh Road in Ughelli.
The driver of the Lexus SUV offered money to the police operatives, who rejected the bribe. The driver then abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby bush. However, a battle axe and two iPhones were found in the recovered vehicle.
The police have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring peace and security in Delta State by relentlessly pursuing those involved in illegal activities and criminality.
