Buhari leads dignitaries at commissioning of Dangote Refinery

President Muhammadu Buhari was amongst the guests of honour at the long-awaited commissioning of the Dangote Refinery located at Dangote Industries Free Zone, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. Upon completion, the refinery is expected to process grades of crude oil from Asia, America, and Africa, producing over 38 million litres of various petroleum products daily to meet Nigeria’s increasing energy demands.

The Dangote refinery, which boasts a capacity to refine 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day, will transform crude oil into several petroleum products, such as diesel, petrol, aviation fuel, and kerosene. The commissioning ceremony was graced by several African heads of state, including the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum, and the President of Togo, Gnassingbé Eyadéma, amongst others.

President Buhari was received by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote. The Nigerian president expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the project, which he describes as a vital advantage to the country’s economy.

The successful completion of the Dangote refinery project provides Nigeria with ample opportunities to thrive in the global oil and gas industry. The state-of-the-art facility will support Nigeria’s economic diversification agenda by guaranteeing local accessibility and the availability of refined petroleum products, thereby reducing the nation’s reliance on imports.

In conclusion, the Dangote Refinery represents a significant milestone for Nigeria, and its commissioning bodes well for the growing Nigerian economy. It is essential to continue sustaining such investments that will provide high economic value to Nigeria and put the country on the path of sustainable growth and development.
