EFCC Warns Nigerians of Scam Alert on Non-existent Help Desk

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sounded a note of caution to Nigerians regarding a scam alert purportedly originating from the EFCC Help Desk. The Commission disclaimed the existence of any such desk within the agency, indicating that the authors of the alert had a sinister motive.

These warnings were made public in a statement from the EFCC, authored and signed by the agency’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, which was posted on its official Twitter page. The statement urged Nigerians to be wary of the alert which is currently circulating on social media platforms, cautioning citizens to verify any suspicious information before acting upon it.

In the statement titled ‘Beware of Scam Alert,’ the EFCC categorically stated that it is not liable for any consequences should anyone fall victim to the machinations of the alert’s authors.

The EFCC advises Nigerians to be vigilant and to collaborate only with the official channels within the agency to avoid being duped by fraudsters.
