Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal Consolidates APM, Obi, Atiku Petitions

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja has announced the pre-hearing report on three different petitions for the nullification of the outcome of the 2023 presidential election. The court also presented the trial schedule.

Justice Haruna Tsammani, the chairman of the five-man panel of the court, read the pre-hearing report which included the declaration of the court’s decision to merge all three petitions into one. This implies that the petitions filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will be heard together.

The hearing of the petitions will commence on May 30, 2023, according to the pre-hearing report. Furthermore, the chairman of the panel announced that after the adoption of the written addresses on August 5, 2023, the court would begin preparations for judgement.
