Stanley Okorie Reveals He Has Made Over 10,000 Songs in His Career

Nigeria’s veteran Nollywood soundtrack composer and singer, Stanley Okorie, has recently disclosed that he has made over 10,000 songs throughout his career. The legendary artist shared this during a guest appearance on a recent episode of the Osikoya Speaks podcast hosted by Wonu Osikoya.

Okorie, who is probably best known for his hit track, “Billionaire (onye ji cash)”, said he was responsible for all the music production in Nollywood for almost four years. He also revealed that his dedication to his craft took a toll on his family life. He often neglected important family occasions and events that were not in line with his tight work schedules and deadlines, which sometimes upset his wife.

“For like four years, I was making all the music in Nollywood. I have made over 10,000 songs,” said Okorie. “It’s a lot. And believe me, it comes at a cost of negligence of some things. You don’t have time for a number of things because you are so focused on your art. You can’t go to birthdays because you have deadlines. You can’t do wedding anniversaries; that one was always pissing my wife off.”

The veteran artist also commented on the resurfacing of his 2015 hit track “Billionaire (onye ji cash)” which has recently gained renewed popularity in Nigeria. Okorie expressed his excitement at the fact that “art is immortal,” and seeing people dancing to a song he made six years ago on platforms like Tiktok is both satisfying and inspiring.

Stanley Okorie is a prominent figure in the Nigerian music and film industry. He has composed musical scores for many popular Nollywood movies and has collaborated with several notable artists in the Nigerian music industry.
