Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has inaugurated landmark projects executed by his administration in Nsukka. These projects were in keeping with the promises made by the governor in his inaugural address to modernise the university town, the second largest city in the state.

To mark the successful completion of his eight-year tenure, Governor Ugwuanyi inaugurated the Enugu State Secretariat Annex, the Nsukka Conference Centre, the 5,000-seat Nsukka Township Stadium, and the Nsukka Press Centre.

Inaugurating the State Secretariat Annex, Governor Ugwuanyi said that the three-floor befitting edifice with 27 offices and other ancillary facilities, had reduced cost, turnaround time, and engendered efficiency in government’s administrative activities.

The Conference Centre comprises multiple halls for conferencing and indoor sporting and recreational facilities, including adult and children swimming pools, lawn tennis courts, among others.

The Nsukka Township Stadium is the first ultra-modern stadium in Enugu North Senatorial District, fitted with tartan tracks and Astroturf for track and field competitions, as well as full complement of other ancillary facilities.

At the inauguration of the Nsukka Press Centre, newly built by his administration, Governor Ugwuanyi made it known that his administration was grateful to God for affording it the enablement to fulfill its promise, adding that “it is our expectation that this chapel will be inspired by this gesture to re-commit to vibrant and responsible journalism in pursuit of a better society for all.”

Many dignitaries such as the commissioners, lawmakers, traditional rulers, youth and women groups were present at the inauguration ceremony.

All these projects have reduced cost, turned around time, and engendered efficiency in the government’s administrative activities. It is now expected that Nsukka should be able to achieve more development in no small measure to these projects.
