The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, commissioned the Cross River State Obudu-German Specialists Hospital alongside the State’s Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, and wife, Dr. Linda Ayade, CEO of COSCHARIS Group, Mr. Cosmos Maduka, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Janet Ekpenyong, and other dignitaries.
This inauguration is a part of the outgoing governor’s legacy projects. The proud owner of this state-of-the-art 140-bed Obudu-German Specialist Hospital is Governor Ayade’s administration, established in partnership with the Coscharis Group.
Speaking at the occasion, the Emir of Kano described it as self-fulfilling and an honour for him to have commissioned the hospital. Moreover, he praised the Governor’s outstanding achievements and declared that medical tourism would be thriving in the hospital. The Emir also acknowledged that the hospital is the Governor’s signature project and comparable to the standard hospitals in Saudi Arabia and Europe.
On his part, Governor Ayade explained that the hospital’s establishment was to make Cross River the major destination for medical tourism in Nigeria. He said that the ambiance of Obudu Cattle Ranch and the serene atmosphere would make medical tourism thrive at Obudu-German Hospital.
The hospital has the best equipment, personnel, and facilities, with modern medical equipment such as a 1.5 Tesla MRI, 128 Slice CT scan, 3D Mammogram, and other sophisticated modular theatres. Moreover, it runs electronically with world-class electronic medical records.
The Chairman of Coscharis Group, Dr Cosmas Maduka, who spoke at the event, said that the medical facility was second to none in Nigeria and comparable to any German hospital worldwide. He eulogized Governor Ayade as a visionary for conceiving the hospital’s idea in 2020 and turning it into reality three years later. Dr Maduka challenged sceptics to visit the hospital and see things for themselves.
The Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Dr Janet Ekpenyong, said the hospital’s inauguration was a crystallization of Governor Ayade’s desire for quality healthcare and that he had achieved unprecedented milestones in the sector.
In conclusion, the Obudu-German Specialist Hospital’s inauguration will enhance the health sector, the standard of living, and, importantly, attract medical tourism to Cross River State.
