Manchester City and Arsenal are set to receive substantial payouts following their first and second-place finishes in the English Premier League (EPL) this season. According to The Mail on Sunday, Man City will set a new record of £166 million from EPL central funds and prize cash combined.
This sum surpasses the previously held EPL payout record set by City in the previous season, where they earned £153 million for winning the title. This season’s increased payout is partly due to the implementation of a set of new overseas TV deals commencing in the 2022-23 season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal, who secured their position as runners-up, will receive a hefty payout of £162.2 million. Teams that finished in third and fourth place will also walk away with significant earnings of £158.6 million and £156.8 million, respectively.
The total sum of money distributed amongst the 20 clubs in the elite division is anticipated to exceed £2.7 billion from the league. This represents a massive increase in payments compared to previous years and demonstrates a growing level of financial prosperity enjoyed by England’s top-flight football teams.
With the EPL becoming an increasingly lucrative enterprise, clubs will be well-positioned to attract and retain top talent, enhancing competitiveness and the overall quality of the league.
