Bola Tinubu, the President-elect of Nigeria, has called on Nigerians not to show any pity towards him as he embarks on the journey of nation-building in the coming years.

Speaking during his inauguration dinner and gala night on Sunday, Tinubu maintained that he was aware of the enormous task ahead, and would not offer any excuses.

Instead, he urged Nigerians to hold him accountable to his campaign promises and expressed his commitment to delivering on his promises.

Having contested and won the presidential elections on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu stated that he was not oblivious to the corruption, insecurity, and other problems facing the country. Despite this, he remained resolute in his promise to tackle these challenges head-on.

“We have corruption, insecurity and many problems confronting us… but don’t pity me. I asked for the job. I campaigned for it. No excuses. I will live up to expectation, I promise you,” Tinubu affirmed.

Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election came after he defeated Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).
