The city of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, has been enveloped with tight security measures, Media Talk Africa reports. The heavy security presence can be felt in major parts of the city, including Sango, Roundabout, Mokola, Dugbe, Liberty Road, and others.

The measure is due to the inauguration of Governor Seyi Makinde and his deputy, Abdulrahman Adebayo Lawal, for a second term in office, which is taking place today.

The event is currently being held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium located in the Oke-Ado area of Ibadan. Governor Makinde and his deputy arrived at the venue of the inauguration earlier today.

The deployment of security operatives is expected to ensure that law and order are maintained throughout the ceremony and throughout the period of Governor Makinde’s second term in office.

The people of Oyo State have high expectations of the governor’s second term, as he has pledged to consolidate the achievements of his first term.

The ceremony is ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
