The former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has left the Eagle Square, Abuja, for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, on his way to his hometown, Daura, Katsina State. His departure followed the swearing-in ceremony of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as the new President and Vice President, respectively, on Monday. Buhari took the opportunity to formally hand over flags and other symbols of office to the new President before departing. On Sunday, Buhari had a dinner with Tinubu and other dignitaries at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja. Speaking earlier, the retired army general had expressed his wish to retire to his hometown and take care of his cows after his tenure in office elapsed. Buhari will be hosted to a Durbar ceremony in Daura on Tuesday to mark his return and his welcome back home.
