Man United’s Success this Season: Erik ten Hag on Ronaldo’s Exit as a Catalyst

With Manchester United achieving success in the new season, rumors have been rife that the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo last November helped propel their impressive run. Erik ten Hag, the Manchester United boss, however, disagrees with this notion.

Recently it was revealed that Ronaldo left Manchester United shortly after controversial remarks he made in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan. Since then, Manchester United has had a seven-match winning run, winning the Carabao Cup, and cementing their place in the Champions League for next season.

According to Ten Hag when asked if Ronaldo’s departure was the key to the club’s newfound drive and consistency, he stated, “If this is what you see, it’s up to you. For me, what I want is a passionate, determined, and proactive team.” He also said, “Manchester United has always had this attitude, and that’s what I admire about them. We are not complacent yet, but we are definitely exhibiting this attitude.” This response appears to suggest the team’s success is not attributed to just one player, but rather a collective effort from all players.
