Senator Ayo Akinyelure, who represents Ondo Central at the National Assembly, has warmly applauded the recent appointment of Mr. Mohammed Babandede as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Speaking during a recent interview with journalists in Akure, Senator Akinyelure described the appointment as a well-deserved one, noting that Babandede had demonstrated remarkable competence and diligence during his previous tenure as the NIS Comptroller-General. The senator expressed confidence that Babandede would continue to maintain a high level of professionalism in his new role.

Senator Akinyelure also emphasized the importance of the NIS in safeguarding Nigeria’s borders, and called on the federal government to adequately equip and support the agency in the discharge of its duties. He further urged Nigerians to cooperate with the NIS in its efforts to keep the country safe from external threats, and to desist from aiding and abetting illegal immigration.

The senator also spoke extensively on the issue of suicide and self-harm, two alarming trends that have become prevalent in recent times. He called on individuals who may be contemplating suicide to reach out for help, emphasizing that suicide is not a solution to any problem. He encouraged Nigerians to prioritize their mental health and well-being, and to seek professional help whenever necessary.

In conclusion, Senator Akinyelure urged all Nigerians to support the federal government in its efforts to improve the security and welfare of citizens, and to remain vigilant in the face of emerging threats.
