Olisa Agbakoba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has advised President Bola Tinubu to name his cabinet ministers as soon as possible, given the need to ensure effective governance in Nigeria. In an interview with Arise Television, Agbakoba emphasized the need for Tinubu to select capable individuals for his cabinet, who would help him deliver on his promises to the Nigerian people.
Making reference to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Agbakoba suggested the appointment of either Mustafa Chike-Obi, the Chairman of Fidelity Bank Nigeria or Yemi Cardoso, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Citibank Nigeria as a replacement for Godwin Emefiele.
Agbakoba also urged Tinubu to break up the Transport Ministry into four sub-ministries, which will encompass rail, road, shipping, and air transportation, with Works Ministry being subsumed under Transport.
He opined that to achieve efficiency and optimal service delivery in the transport sector, it was imperative to have a specialized ministry for each mode of transportation – with experts appointed to head each ministry. He further challenged Tinubu to name at least four or five highly competent ministers for the success of his administration.
Although Tinubu has not made an official declaration of his candidacy for the presidency, Agbakoba believes that with his vast political experience, he possesses the leadership qualities necessary to take Nigeria to the next level. Therefore, it is imperative that he chooses the right individuals to work with him to help achieve his vision for the country.
The emergence of new leaders and ideas may be what Nigeria needs to move forward, and it is essential that the new administration puts together a capable team to deliver on its promises to the people.
