Siminialayi Fubara, the Rivers State Governor, paid a visit to the Rivers State Secretariat complex in Port Harcourt, assuring civil servants in the state that his administration would be focusing on improving their welfare.

The Governor acknowledged the fact that the secretariat lacked functional utilities, most notably water supply and security, and promised to address these challenges to enhance the productivity of workers.

During his visit, Governor Fubara assessed the state of the secretariat’s facilities, which he deemed substandard. He also stated that the state government had previously invested a considerable amount of money in water supply at the secretariat, but there was no justification for the funds that were expended. He called for an investigation into the expenditure of the funds disbursed.

The Governor urged civil servants to exercise commitment, dedication, and hard work in their duties, emphasizing that the government would not tolerate any form of indolence or nonchalant attitudes.

Prior to assessing the state secretariat, the Governor held a meeting with the Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt. He charged them to reorganise the state civil service for greater efficiency.
