As Manchester United prepare to face off against city rivals Manchester City in Saturday’s FA Cup final, defender Raphael Varane has named two key players that United must stop in order to clinch the victory.

According to Varane, United’s primary focus should be on neutralizing the threat posed by City duo Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne. This is because they have been the driving forces behind City’s impressive run this season as they chase a treble.

On the other hand, Varane has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to face their rivals head-on, stating that they have “no fear” of the challenge that lies ahead. However, he highlighted that it is imperative for United to be fully prepared as they will be facing a team that can score through set-pieces, possession play, and transition game.

As a defender, Varane acknowledged that the connection between Haaland and De Bruyne poses a significant danger. He therefore emphasized the importance of cutting off the supply from De Bruyne in order to neutralize Haaland’s goal threat.

Varane added, “We know we have to stop them as a team and collectively as a group…We’ll try to stop them earlier and not at the end, because sometimes it’s too late. We know we have to be strong as a team.”

Despite City being in top form, United’s strong defense led by Varane, coupled with their recent victories in the Europa League, will give them momentum heading into the final. If they can successfully neutralize the threat from Haaland and De Bruyne, Man United stand a good chance of securing their first trophy under manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
