Gov. Makinde Urges PDP Members to Prioritize Unity over Divisive Issues

At a retreat organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for elected officials in Bauchi on Saturday, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State called on party members to avoid issues capable of dividing the party and instead focus on its unity.

In his address at the retreat, Makinde emphasised the need to begin the healing process of the PDP immediately. He urged members to embrace peace and set aside issues that could cause division in the party, based on the in-fighting during the general elections.

The governor also urged his fellow governors to stay focused on uniting the party and be forward-looking. He emphasised that governments would come and go, but the country would remain. Therefore, he urged the PDP as a responsible opposition party to act in the interest of Nigeria.

Makinde’s speech at the retreat shows his commitment to the PDP and his desire to keep the party united against internal factions and division. The retreat is the first gathering of elected officials since the general elections, and the governor’s call for unity is a step in the right direction towards strengthening the party’s position in Nigeria’s political scene.

As the political climate in Nigeria remains highly competitive and unpredictable, Makinde’s appeal to PDP members highlights the importance of unity and collaboration within the party towards achieving its political objectives.
