In the ongoing presidential election petition against President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Presidential Election Petition Court has admitted Forms EC8B tendered by Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) during the Feb. 25 presidential election, and his party.
The forms were admitted as exhibits from 17 states where they were contesting the election results. These states include Adamawa, Bayelsa, Benue, Delta, Edo, Ekiti, Imo, Kaduna, Kogi, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ondo, Oyo, Cross River, Sokoto and Akwa Ibom. The documents contained results from various Local Government Areas (LGAs) as required by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
During the hearing, counsel to the respondents, including Kemi Pinhero (SAN), representing INEC, Wole Olanipakun (SAN), representing Tinubu and Alhaji Kashim Shettima, and Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) representing the APC, all raised objections to the tendering of the Forms EC8Bs. However, they indicated that they would reserve their reasons for objection until their final addresses.
The court admitted all the documents tendered by Obi and LP as their schedule of documents and marked them as exhibits. The hearing of the petition has been adjourned until Wednesday when further matters will be addressed.
