Lionel Messi has insisted that some people in Barcelona don’t want him to return to the club, adding that he knows what the club’s manager Xavi told him.

Messi spoke on Wednesday during an interview with Mundo Deportivo.

Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain will expire on June 30 and the French Ligue 1 champions revealed last weekend that the 35-year-old forward would depart the club.

The Argentina World Cup winner played his last game for PSG last Sunday against Clermont Foot.

The 35-year-old had been linked with a return to Barcelona and also a move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, but he has now decided to join Inter Miami.

“I’m not sure if Barça did everything possible to make it happen, honestly; I just know what Xavi told me,” Messi said.

“I’m sure that there’s people into the club that do not want me to return to Barça, considering that negative for the club”.
