Police reportedly storm Matawalle’s residence, recover ‘looted vehicles’

Men of the Nigeria Police Force have reportedly raided the residence of the immediate-past governor of the state, Bello Matawalle, to recover vehicles allegedly carted away by the ex-governor.

DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that during the raid on Mr Matawalle’s residence on Friday, four Sport Utility Vehicles, SUVs, were reportedly recovered by the policemen.

Attempts to get a reaction from the police public relations officer in the state, Yazid Abubakar, were not successful as his line was switched off at the time of filing this report.

Recall that the state governor, Dauda Lawal, had accused Mr Matawalle of leaving with government vehicles and looting property, including televisions and cookers, from the state government house.

“Former Governor Bello Matawalle had gone away with 17 vehicles from his office and those in the deputy governor’s office claiming that the vehicles are his personal belongings. In fact, not even office equipment was spared.

“The atrocities are beyond comprehension, I’ve never seen crass irresponsibility like this one. But, with good planning I’m assuring the citizens of the state that we will do our best to correct the anomalies,” Mr Lawal had said.
