Democracy Day 2023: Tinubu to Give Live Broadcast Address to Nigerians

As Nigerians nationwide prepare to celebrate Democracy Day on June 12, 2023, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will address the nation via a live broadcast.

The Director of Information at the State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye, confirmed in a statement on Sunday that Tinubu’s broadcast is scheduled for 7am. According to the statement, “Television, radio stations, and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.”

It is expected that Tinubu will utilize this platform to address a number of important national issues affecting the country, providing insights on ways in which the federal government can move the country forward.

It is also noteworthy that Democracy Day was moved from May 29th to June 12th by former president Muhammadu Buhari to honor the late Moshood Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election which was annulled by the then-military ruler, General Ibrahim Babangida.

As Nigeria marks another year of democracy, there is increased anticipation for Tinubu’s much-anticipated broadcast address and what it could mean for the country’s political landscape.
