Bauchi State Governor Senator, Bala Mohammed, has declared that the celebration of the 24th Democracy Day in Nigeria is a testament to the firmly rooted and enduring nature of democratic governance in the country.
In his goodwill message to mark Democracy Day, Governor Mohammed affirmed that democracy remains the best form of government as it gives citizens the right to choose who governs them and how they are governed.
“It is this democratic right of choice that puts elected governments at both the national and state levels on their toes, so as not to incur the wrath of the electorate by being voted out of power during periodic elections,” the Governor said.
The Governor also stated that his re-election for a second term in office is proof of the trust and confidence the people of the State have in his administration, after significant developmental projects were executed in his first term for their social-economic benefit.
As a show of sportsmanship, the Governor extended a hand of friendship to his opponents from the March 18 governorship election in the state, calling for a collective effort to take the state to greater heights.
“Bauchi is the only State we can call ours. We must, therefore, forget about whatever happened during the electioneering campaigns and come together to collectively work for its economic, social, and political development,” he urged.
With the new mandate given to him by the people of Bauchi State, Governor Mohammed acknowledged the challenge to prove that his performance during the last four years was not a fluke.
He promised to continue working for the betterment of the socio-economic condition of the people in the state and positively make a difference in the lives and livelihood of the people who call Bauchi State home.
The Governor assured that his administration would uphold inclusiveness and ensure that various groups in the state are carried along and given a sense of belonging.
