Kwara State Governor and Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has called on citizens to uphold the values of democracy and work towards building a stronger nation through patriotism and collective responsibility.
The governor made this statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, in Ilorin on Monday, as Nigeria commemorated June 12 Democracy Day.
Abdulrazaq urged Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda aimed at enhancing democracy and consolidating on the gains of the past years, which have led to collective security, infrastructural development, and public welfare.
The governor congratulated Nigerians on the 30th anniversary of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, which he described as a significant event that ushered in the current democratic dispensation.
As we continue to remember and honour the heroes of democracy who made sacrifices to ensure that democracy becomes entrenched in Nigeria, Governor Abdulrazaq encourages citizens to remain committed to the democratic values of transparency, accountability, and civic participation to strengthen the country’s democratic institutions.
In conclusion, he urged Nigerians to take collective responsibility and work towards building a more united and prosperous nation.
