Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records for breaking the record of the longest cooking marathon ever.

The talented chef from Akwa Ibom State cooked for an amazing 100 hours non-stop, beating India’s Lata Tondon’s previous record of 87 hours 45 minutes.

However, Guinness World Record later stated that they deducted some minutes from Hilda’s final total due to a mistake she made during one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt. According to the rules, marathon record holders are entitled to a five-minute break for every hour completed.

In a released statement, the organization said, “In this case, there was a miscalculation when it came to Hilda’s rest breaks, thus we are unable to award the 100 hours claimed.”

Nevertheless, Hilda Baci was awarded the Guinness world records title for the longest cooking marathon, having achieved a remarkable 93 hours and 11 minutes non-stop cooking.

In a video released by Guinness World Records, a representative congratulated Hilda Baci and acknowledged her impressive feat. “I can now announce with a time of 93 hours and 11 minutes, Hilda Baci is the new holder of the Guinness world records title for the longest cooking marathon. Congratulations, you are officially amazing,” the representative said.

As a chef and caterer, Hilda has cooked for numerous high-profile clients, including Nigerian politicians and celebrities.

Many Nigerians have congratulated her on this outstanding achievement, which has further demonstrated the country’s excellence in diverse fields, especially in impressive acts.
