The Nigerian leader, President Bola Tinubu, has recently pledged to prioritize and allocate more resources towards the education sector in the country. Tinubu asserts that every Nigerian child, regardless of their socioeconomic background, is entitled to a quality education.

While receiving the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Abuja, the President emphasized the pivotal role of education in fighting poverty. He believes that poverty should not present any barriers towards receiving an education, and that it is the responsibility of the government to ensure that every child in the country has access to the highest standard of education.

Tinubu encouraged the students to work towards promoting unity among their members nationwide. He also urged them to embrace democratic means in carrying out their programs and elections. The President reiterated his stance from his Democracy Day speech, stating that anyone who is not willing to accept and celebrate free and fair elections does not deserve the joy of victory.

In concluding his remarks, Tinubu pledged to consider the requests submitted by NANS, signaling a willingness to work closely with the students’ body. If Nigeria is committed to providing quality education to its citizens, then it must be prepared to increase investment and prioritize the development of educational infrastructure across the country.
