Olakunle Oluomo Secures Second Term as Ogun Assembly Speaker

In a resounding victory, Honourable Olakunle Oluomo has been reelected as the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly for a second term. This momentous event took place during the official inauguration of the 10th Ogun Assembly on Tuesday.

The election also saw Honourable Bolanle Ajayi, representing Yewa South State Constituency, emerge as the Deputy Speaker of the House.

Understandably, Oluomo’s re-election followed extensive consultations and thorough negotiations amongst lawmakers, a process that showcased the democratic spirit and the collective resolve to move Ogun State forward.

It is worthy to note that Oluomo’s re-election transpires amidst ongoing legal proceedings against him. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is investigating allegations concerning the disappearance of N2.5 billion during his previous tenure as Speaker. Despite these challenging circumstances, Honourable Oluomo has managed to garner the support and confidence of his fellow legislators.

Representing Ifo Constituency 1, Oluomo has been an active member of the House since 2011. He served as the Deputy Speaker from 2011 to 2019 before assuming the position of Speaker.

As he embarks on his second term, all eyes will be on Honourable Olakunle Oluomo as he navigates the complex landscape of legislative duties and strives to uphold the trust bestowed upon him by the people of Ogun State.
