Former IGP Alkali Baba Praised for Achievements by Shehu Sani

Renowned human rights activist, Shehu Sani, has commended the immediate past Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, for two notable achievements during his tenure.

In a tweet posted on his official handle, the former lawmaker extolled Baba’s professionalism, civility, and impartiality displayed by the Nigeria Police during the most recent general elections.

Sani, who is known for his unrelenting pursuit of justice and equity, acknowledged that, for the first time in the country’s history, the police were not accused of participating in election rigging.

Apart from this, Sani also expressed his admiration for the former IGP’s unwavering commitment to compensating the families of police officers who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty.

The tweet reads in part: “Personally, I appreciate these two achievements of the former IG of Police, Alkali; the professionalism, civility, and impartiality of the police during the 2023 general elections.”

Sani further adds, “For the first time in our political history, the police were not seriously accused of partaking in election rigging. This is a great achievement. I wish him well”.
