The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has taken a significant step towards addressing the socio-economic challenges facing the state by constituting a Governor’s Advisory Council. The council aims to develop and implement policy initiatives that will promote economic growth, combat poverty, and tackle unemployment.

According to a statement by the Director General of Press Affairs at Gombe Government House, Mr. Ismaila Uba Misilli, the council will consist of eminent individuals who hail from Gombe State and have been nominated to serve as advisors. These advisors are expected to contribute their expertise and experience in their respective fields to facilitate the advancement of good governance and secure a prosperous future for the state.

Chairing the council is Prof Idris Mohammed, a veteran academic and health policy expert. Prof Mohammed carries with him extensive experience in Nigeria and overseas, especially in the fields of healthcare and higher education. Misilli emphasized that Prof Mohammed has been actively engaged in harnessing the vast potential of Gombe State.

The council members include Dr. Ibrahim Jalo Daudu, a retired Federal Permanent Secretary and former Head of the Civil Service in Gombe State. Dr. Daudu is known for championing reforms within the civil service.

Another member is Malam MK Ahmad, a highly accomplished technocrat and economic development expert who has contributed significantly to both the public and private sectors. His expertise lies in finance, fiscal responsibility, accountability, and human resource development.

Also among the council members is Micah I Jimeta, a seasoned public administrator with a strong background in community leadership. He brings vast experience in the public sector and will contribute his knowledge to the council’s endeavors.

Prof. Fatima B.J. Sawa, a former provost of the Federal College of Horticulture, Dadinkowa, joins the council as an academic of repute and environmentalist. Prof. Sawa has been actively involved in formulating policies related to environmental protection and agricultural development.

Engr. Sa’idu Aliyu Mohammed, an important figure in the oil and gas industry, will contribute his expertise to the council. He has played a significant role in implementing reforms in the natural gas and energy sectors of the country.

Arch Suleiman Mohammed Kumo, a former director in the Central Bank of Nigeria, will bring his extensive knowledge in infrastructure financing and development to the council.

Prof. Baba Yusuf Abubakar, a highly regarded professor of animal science, is renowned for his research and policy work in advancing agriculture in Nigeria and globally.

Engr. Abubakar Bappah, the immediate past commissioner of Works and Transportation in Gombe State, is known for his contributions to critical infrastructure development since the state’s creation in 1996.

Lastly, Dr. Mu’azu U. Shehu, the Director-General of Research and Documentation in Gombe State, will utilize his research expertise and policy-oriented approach to contribute to the council’s efforts.

With such a diverse and accomplished group of advisors, the Governor’s Advisory Council holds great promise for addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by Gombe State. The council members’ individual expertise, proven integrity, and dedication to public service will undoubtedly contribute to the progress and development of the state.
