Agbonlahor Advises Manchester United to Abandon Pursuit of Mason Mount

Former Aston Villa captain, Gabriel Agbonlahor, has urged Manchester United to reconsider their interest in Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount.

The 24-year-old English international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford and has been making headlines recently.

Mount, who was nurtured in Chelsea’s youth academy, is currently in the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

According to reports from The Athletic, Manchester United submitted a second bid worth £50 million for Mount, which was once again rejected by Chelsea.

The initial offer of £40 million was also turned down, and Agbonlahor shared his thoughts on the ongoing transfer saga in an interview with Football Insider.

“In my honest opinion, I would say Mount is worth a maximum of £40 million. If Chelsea demands more than that, I believe Manchester United should end negotiations because it seems like they are not serious.”

“Mount has been struggling with his form lately and his statistics aren’t impressive. Considering Chelsea’s unwillingness to offer him a new contract, it would make sense for them to sell him, wouldn’t it?” Agbonlahor added.

Agbonlahor went on to advise Manchester United to withdraw from the deal if they are unable to reach an agreement, leaving Chelsea with a player who can leave for free next January.

“I think Chelsea will eventually have to be less stubborn as the transfer window progresses. £40 million seems like a fair price, and even that is a significant amount for a player who has been out of form.”

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will heed Agbonlahor’s advice and end their pursuit of Mason Mount, or whether they will continue to negotiate with Chelsea for the talented midfielder.
