A legal practitioner and social critic, Inibehe Effiong, has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu for the long motorcade that accompanied him upon his arrival in Lagos, calling it absurd.

Effiong argues that Tinubu should have insisted on reducing the number of vehicles in the convoy, as this action serves as “a reminder that the political class is not ready to make the sacrifices it expects from citizens.”

Tinubu’s arrival in Lagos on Tuesday, following his visit to London and participation in the Paris Finance Summit, quickly turned into a spectacle with an extensive convoy accompanying him to his private residence.

In a viral video captured by an onlooker by the roadside, multiple SUVs were seen speeding ahead and behind the president’s official car.

Expressing his discontent, Effiong took to Twitter to state that while fuel subsidy was removed to save costs, limited resources were being wasted on frivolous displays.

He said, “Mr. Bola Tinubu’s convoy in Lagos is another reminder that the political class is not ready to make the sacrifices they expect from citizens.

“A nation burdened with devastating debt shouldn’t be governed in this manner. Those defending this monstrous convoy do not wish Nigeria well.”
