In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, popular Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia bravely recounted her harrowing experiences of domestic violence during her marriage. With remarkable courage, she shared the shocking details of the abuse she endured at the hands of her ex-husband.

Idemudia revealed that her ex-husband once subjected her to a horrifying torture session in order to extract a confession about her alleged infidelity. Describing the horrifying incident, she explained how he tied her up and forcibly submerged her head in water during the night, threatening her until she admitted her supposed transgression.

The trauma inflicted upon her during this violent encounter was severe enough to land her in the hospital. Idemudia required oxygen supplementation to aid her recovery and regain her strength.

Recalling the early days of her marriage, the actress shared that she was young and naive, completely unaware of the darkness that lay ahead. She confessed, “I was green, I didn’t know anything. I was a fool. I got married at the age of 22, and my husband made it clear that he was not just my friend, but my lord and master.”

During her interview, she likened her husband’s abusive tactics to those employed in CIA films, where individuals are subjected to waterboarding and other forms of torture to extract the truth. This disturbing comparison offers a glimpse into the level of psychological and physical torment she endured.

When asked about the physical violence she endured, Idemudia responded with painful honesty, “What else breaks bones? What else sends someone to the hospital needing oxygen? His height might be deceiving, but let me tell you, he may be short, but his blows were mighty.”

Over time, the relentless cycle of abuse took its toll, and Idemudia courageously decided to break free from her torment. She made the brave choice to report her ex-husband to the appropriate authorities, seeking justice and an end to the horrific abuse she had endured for far too long.

Idemudia’s story illuminates the urgent need for greater awareness surrounding domestic violence and the importance of providing support and resources for survivors. Her courage to speak out serves as an inspiration to others who may be trapped in similar situations, reminding them that they are not alone and that there is hope for a brighter future.

As society progresses, it is critical that we work together to end the silent suffering endured by countless individuals. By creating safe spaces for open conversations and implementing measures to support survivors, we can strive towards a world where no one has to endure the horrors of domestic violence.
