Equities trading begins new week bullish

Amid sustained positive sentiment from last week, the market indices of equities trading on the Nigerian Exchange closed in the positive territory on Monday.

The all-share index advanced by 1.61% to close at 61,949.24 points from the 60,968.27 at the close of trading on Friday last week while the market capitalisation rose by N534 billion to close at N33,731 trillion.

The market sentiment also closed bullish as trading ended with 67 gainers as against 14 losers.

Top on the gainers list for the day was Eterna with 10% share price appreciation to close at N23.10k. It was followed by Fidelity Bank, also with 10% price gain and a closing price of N7.70k then University Press Limited also gained 10% to close at N2.75k.

On the other hand, Tripple Gee &Co lost 9.87% to close at N3.38k, followed by Cornerstone Insurance Company with 9.09% loss and a closing price of N1.00 and Secure Electronic Technology also dropped 9.09% to close at N0.30k.

At the end of Monday’s trading, a total of 1.2 million shares with market value of N14.1 billion were traded in 12,128 deals.
