Nigerian Army Engages Secondary Schools in Rivers State to Combat Social vices

The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army has taken proactive measures to address prevalent social issues among students by conducting a sensitization public speaking engagement at Army Day Secondary School in Rivers State.

The program encompassed talks on the dangers of drug and substance abuse, as well as the detrimental effects of cultism. Additionally, it shed light on the array of career opportunities available within the Nigerian Army.

During the event, Brigadier General Emmanuel Echebuiwe, the Director of 6 Division Education Service, emphasized the grave consequences of drug abuse and cultism, highlighting how they can hamper the future prospects of students. He urged the young audience to steer clear of these vices and encouraged them to report anyone involved, emphasizing that assistance would be provided to those seeking help due to the challenging nature of breaking these habits.

Lieutenant Colonel Adewale Azeez, the Commandant of Command Secondary School Port Harcourt, also addressed the gathering. He depicted the Nigerian Army as a comprehensive institution that offers equal opportunities for individuals to excel. Lt. Col. Azeez outlined the entry requirements for pursuing a career in the Nigerian Army and urged students to consider this path with proper guidance.

In his speech, Lt. Col. Azeez commended the Nigerian Army for its noble contributions in preserving national unity. He enumerated the numerous civil-military cooperation projects undertaken by the army, underscoring their positive impact on improving livelihoods and meeting the needs of citizens.

The event’s highlights included the screening of a thought-provoking video documentary, an impressive drill display, and an engaging interactive session with the students.
