The Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), located in Katsina State, has announced that it has successfully obtained accreditation for 23 new full-time undergraduate programs and 21 postgraduate programs. This development was revealed in a statement issued by the Coordinator of the Directorate of Public Relations and Protocol (DPRP) at the University, Habib Umar-Amin.
According to Umar-Amin, the accreditation for these programs was granted by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and will be implemented from the 2023/2024 academic session. The approval was conveyed in a letter signed by Dr N.B Saliu, the Director of Academic Planning at the NUC, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, and addressed to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Armayau Hamisu-Bichi.
Umar-Amin further explained that the approval was a result of a resource verification visit by a panel of experts from the NUC to assess the availability of human and material resources required for the establishment of the proposed programs. The visit was conducted to ensure that the university had all the necessary resources to support the delivery of high-quality education.
Among the new undergraduate programs approved are B.Sc Mass Communication, LL.B Law, B.Eng Mechatronics Engineering, and B.Sc International Relations and Diplomacy. Other programs include B.URP Urban and Regional Planning, B.Sc Applied Geophysics, B.Tech Entrepreneurship, and B.Tech Textile Design Technology, among others.
The DPRP also highlighted that these new programs are in addition to the more than 80 different programs already offered by the university at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
This recent accomplishment by the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, is a testament to its commitment to providing a wide range of educational opportunities to students. The accreditation of these programs will undoubtedly enhance the academic offerings and contribute to the development of skilled professionals in various fields.
