Islamic New Year: Yobe Govt declares Wednesday work-free day

The Yobe State Government has declared Wednesday, July 19, a work-free day to mark the Islamic New Year.

This was contained in a statement signed and issued on Tuesday by the State Head of Civil Service, Garba Bilal.

According to the statement, tomorrow, being July 19, 2023, is equivalent to the 1st day of Muharram 1445, after hijrah of the new Islamic calendar.

“It is hoped that the public holiday will afford people the opportunity to pray for peace and a bumper harvest”, the statement added.

It, however, reminded civil servants in the state that they are expected to resume work on Thursday, July 20, 2023, after the break.
