The Department of Development Control, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), on Monday, demolished a building erected on plot 661 B01, Gudu District, in Apo area of Abuja.
The demolition team, led by Mr Chinedu Okoro, Officer-in-Charge of the District, explained during the exercise that the building was demolished for allegedly deviating from the approval granted for the space.
According to him, the action contravened the Abuja Land Use Act.
“It was gathered that the developer had approval from the department but did not follow the approved plan for a car pack structure in the area.”
Okoro explained that prior to the demolition of the building, the team had visited and served the developer relevant notices, but he failed to comply.
He warned other developers to always adhere strictly to the approval granted by the department.
“Department of Development Control is resolute in ensuring that the Master Plan of the Federal Capital Territory is preserved by all developers in the FCT,” he said.
He warned that any developer that fails to build according to approval, would have the offending structure removed and the developer will bear the cost of the removal
