We thank Almighty Allah – Lamido reacts over Court of Appeal’s judgement

The 2023 general election gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State, Mustapha Sule Lamido, has reacted to Tuesday’s Court of Appeal judgement that discharged him of money laundering charges.

Media Talk Africa reports that the Court of Appeal in Abuja has discharged and acquitted a former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, his son, Mustapha Sule Lamido, and others over alleged money laundering.

In delivering his judgement on Tuesday, Justice Adamu Waziri held that the Federal High Court in Abuja lacked the requisite jurisdiction to try the case as most of the issues emanated from outside.

Responding to the judgement on his Facebook page, Dr Mustapha Sule Lamido expressed delight over the judgement.

According to him: “After over eight years of legal battles, today, the Court of Appeal has discharged us of all wrongdoing allegations against us by the EFCC. We thank Almighty Allah, the Giver of Justice, for this vindication.

“We express our gratitude to the Nigerian judiciary for upholding justice and giving ordinary Nigerians more reasons to believe in them. We thank and commend our lawyers, Joe Agi, SAN, Offiong Offiong, SAN, and their team for their tireless efforts.

“We express our gratitude to all friends, family, associates, and well-wishers for standing by us with prayers and solidarity.”

Media Talk Africa recalls that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned the former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, his son Mustapha, and others before the Federal Higher Court, Maitama, Abuja, on a 43-count charge bordering on abuse of office and money laundering.
