The Acting Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has presented N4,700,000.00 cheques to the next of kins of eight police officers who died in active service in Kogi State.

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya disclosed this in a statement on Thursday evening.

Aya stated that the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Onuoha Bethrand presented the cheques on behalf of the IGP.

According to Aya, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, ACP Rufus Odediran, who represented the Commissioner, noted that the cheques were part of the IGP Welfare Insurance Scheme.

The statement noted that the Commissioner of Police appreciated the Acting IGP for his kind gesture and appealed to the families to make good use of the money.

Aya further noted that the beneficiaries thanked the Acting IGP and the State Police Command for the support and assured the police of judicious use of the money.
