The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has inaugurated the newly constituted State Council of Traditional Rulers, chaired by the Olojudo of Ido Ekiti, HRM Oba Ayorinde Ilori Faboro. During the inauguration, Governor Oyebanji called on the Obas to align with his administration’s agenda of ease of doing business.
Governor Oyebanji urged the traditional rulers to encourage their subjects to refrain from tarnishing the reputation of private business investors in the state. He emphasized that for the state to grow, the royal fathers must embrace and support private investors. According to him, this is a key catalyst to boost the state’s economy and achieve his administration’s shared prosperity agenda.
Addressing the monarchs during the inauguration ceremony at the Traditional Council Chamber in Ado Ekiti, the Governor expressed his dissatisfaction with the unfriendly attitude of some communities towards releasing land for private investments. He implored the monarchs to ensure that the longstanding disputes over land utilization become a thing of the past.
Governor Oyebanji appreciatively acknowledged the crucial roles traditional rulers play in society as custodians of culture and agents of socio-economic mobilization. He assured them that his government would continue to hold the traditional institutions in high regard.
Furthermore, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of traditional rulers, promising to prioritize their well-being and promote the traditional institution.
In congratulating the new Chairman, the Governor expressed confidence in Oba Ayorinde Ilori Faboro’s ability to lead the council with maturity, sincerity, and solidarity.
Accepting his appointment, the new Chairman, Oba Ilori Faboro, conveyed his gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to serve. He recognized the challenge of promoting unity among the royal fathers and pledged to work hard to justify the confidence placed in him.
