Why I Decided to Leave the Music Industry and Relocate: Insights from Eldee

In a candid revelation, the renowned Nigerian hip-hop artiste, Sikirullahi Olanrewaju Dabiri, popularly known as Eldee The Don, has shared the reasons behind his departure from the music scene and his subsequent relocation abroad.

A former member of the now-disbanded Trybesmen, Eldee explained that he made the difficult decision to leave Nigeria in order to find solace and regain focus. This decision stemmed from a distressing incident involving an advisory firm that deceived him and several investors by promising to invest their money in his music.

Eldee made these revelations during his appearance on the latest episode of the King of Talks podcast, hosted by renowned comedian, Teju Babyface.

Reflecting on the events that unfolded, Eldee highlighted his association with a gentleman named Tonye Akindele, who ran a capital advisory firm at the time. The firm was responsible for identifying potential business ventures and securing funding for them.

The rapper recounted his partnership with Akindele, unaware that their collaboration was a façade orchestrated by Akindele and his partner. While Akindele secured funding for other projects, Eldee unknowingly continued financing his own music career.

It was nearly a year before Eldee discovered that he had fallen victim to a scam, having incurred significant debts and receiving no financial backing for his record label. Moreover, some members of Eldee’s team had left their families behind and moved to Nigeria to be part of this project, only to find themselves empty-handed and disappointed.
