Abia State Head of Service Puts an End to Age Falsification and Ghost Workers in Civil Service

In a bid to eradicate age falsification and tackle the issue of ghost workers in the civil service, Joy Maduka, the Head of Service in Abia State, has initiated a physical verification exercise for all civil servants in the state.

The physical verification exercise took place at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia, following an online verification conducted by the state government.

Maduka emphasized that the aim of the exercise is not to witch-hunt or victimize civil servants, but rather to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery, as envisioned by Governor Alex Otti.

As the first civil servant to undergo the verification process, Maduka highlighted the numerous benefits it would bring, including the prompt payment of salaries and entitlements, as well as a smooth transition into retirement.

Furthermore, the verification exercise will address the issue of age falsification, ensuring that civil servants retire at the appropriate time and age.

Maduka urged all civil servants in Abia State to participate in the verification exercise, assuring them of the significant advantages it would yield. She also promised that the long-standing pension crisis in the state would be resolved as a result of the exercise.

It is worth noting that the verification is taking place simultaneously in all 17 local government areas of Abia State.
