FCT Set to Experience Transformation under Minister Nyesom Wike, Applauds President Tinubu’s Appointment

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has expressed its confidence in the newly appointed FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, stating that the Federal Capital Territory will witness significant development under his leadership.

Ohanaeze commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing a southerner to the position, breaking the trend of northerners holding the position since the advent of democracy in 1999.

In a statement issued by the Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze highlighted that the last southerner to occupy the office was late Prof. Miriam Odinchezo Ikejiani-Clark, an Igbo woman who served as the FCT Minister during Gen Sani Abacha’s regime from 1995 to 1997.

The organization expressed hope that Minister Wike would prioritize balanced development that reflects the interests of all Nigerians in the territory.

Isiguzoro stated, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo is elated that President Tinubu, after the departure of the late Prof. Miriam Odinchezo Ikejiani-Clark, has restored balance to history by appointing another southerner, the former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, as the FCT Minister.”

“Under Wike’s leadership, Abuja is bound to experience the transformation that earned him the nickname ‘Mr. Projects’ in Rivers State. Tinubu and the residents of FCT can now have peace of mind,” Isiguzoro added.
