NDLEA’s Pledge: Combating Illicit Substances in FCT

The Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kabir Tsakuwa, has made a firm commitment to relentlessly tackle the proliferation of illicit substances within the territory.

Noting the agency’s intensified efforts, Tsakuwa affirmed, “We have stepped up our raids on drug joints and made numerous arrests.”

Collaborating with other security agencies, Tsakuwa revealed that joint operations are being carried out to eliminate drug-infested shanties and notorious black spots in the FCT. This initiative aims to liberate the public from the clutches of those engaged in illicit drug businesses.

Emphasizing the agency’s strategic plan for drug supply and demand reduction, Tsakuwa declared that the raids will continue until drug merchants are forced out of business in the FCT. Furthermore, continuous intelligence gathering, in partnership with other security agencies, will be a priority.

To ensure sustained operations, the NDLEA will establish outposts throughout the territory, focusing particularly on identified drug hotspots such as Wuse Zone 4, Area 1 Park, Torabora, Banex, Apo Mechanic Village, Gwarinpa, Jabi, and Karu Abattoir.

Recognizing the importance of prevention, the agency has also initiated a sensitization program targeting workplaces, schools, government agencies, mosques, churches, and other public places. This effort seeks to educate people, especially the youth, about the perils associated with illicit substances.
