A sociopolitical crusader, Deji Adeyanju, has expressed his dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s choice of ministers for the Ministries of Defence and Youths.
Adeyanju alleged that the President did not give due consideration to appointing ministers for Defence and Youth.
He emphasized that the youth demographic holds immense potential and plays a pivotal role in driving Nigeria’s social, economic, and political progress.
Adeyanju’s statement reads, “While I acknowledge the weighty responsibility and careful deliberation involved in selecting ministers and allocating portfolios, it is regrettable to note that ministries such as Defence and Youth have not received adequate consideration in the ministerial appointments.
“Consequently, their active participation in governance is crucial for the meaningful representation of their interests.
“The Ministry of Youth, in particular, should be entrusted to someone who not only embodies the youthful spirit but also possesses the physical vigor of a young person. It is imperative that we do not return to an era where individuals over the age of 60 are appointed as ministers of Youth.
“Furthermore, Your Excellency, I would also like to draw your attention to the importance of the Defence portfolio and urge you to reconsider the appointment of both the substantive minister and the minister of state.”
“The defence ministry plays a critical role in safeguarding our nation’s sovereignty and the well-being of our citizens. It should ideally be helmed by an individual well-versed in both our internal and external security.”
