An aide to Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Daniel Bwala, has strongly criticized the N5 billion palliative offered by the President Bola Tinubu administration, describing it as “renewed nonsense.”
Bwala’s remarks came as he highlighted how organized labor had exposed the insufficiency of the N5 billion palliative allocated to state governments.
According to Bwala, the calculations made by the organized labor revealed that each person would receive just N1,500 from the palliative fund.
Expressing his discontent on Twitter, Bwala wrote: “The organized labor has demystified the so-called 5 billion naira given by the Federal Government to the states. Initially, the government labeled it as a palliative, but now they are calling it a loan. Organized labor further conducted their own calculations and came to the shameful conclusion that the so-called 5 billion naira amounts to a mere N1,500 per person. This amount falls dismally short when considering the skyrocketing prices of essential food items in the market. This is nothing but renewed nonsense.”
The Federal Government had recently announced plans to disburse N5 billion as a palliative measure to alleviate the impact of subsidy removal.
