APC chieftain, Aliyu Audu calls for creation of six more states, gives reasons

A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC Aliyu Audu has called on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to consider the creation of six more states from all the geo-political zones.

Audu, a member of the Media Strategy Subcommittee of the APC Presidential Transition Council, made the call on Wednesday while featuring on a Channels Television programme.

The party chieftain explained that if more states are created, the growing rural-urban migration would be minimized.

Audu argued that some states like Lagos are overburdened because of the mass exodus of Nigerians to the city for greener pastures.

He said, “If we can take a bit of this pressure off Lagos by creating six other states in six geopolitical zones, that will reduce rural-urban migration, prevents people from leaving the North, the East and the West to Lagos.

“It balances up the states and to do this, you need more people, you need more hands, we need more processes.”
