Decaying Education Sector Linked to Youth Restiveness and Crime, says Governor Kefas

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has identified the deteriorating state of the education sector as a major contributor to the rise in youth restiveness and crime.

During an extensive meeting with the heads of tertiary institutions in Jalingo, the state capital, Governor Kefas emphasized the need for urgent intervention in the education system.

In a bid to address this issue, the governor pledged to allocate funds from loans obtained by his administration to improve the quality of education, ensuring that lack of funding will no longer hinder progress.

Furthermore, Governor Kefas announced the immediate disbursement of outstanding salaries owed to staff members of the state university.

Highlighting the importance of regular communication and collaboration, Governor Kefas expressed his commitment to consistently engage with the heads of tertiary institutions, ensuring their needs are met.

The governor also ascertained that the projects funded by the recent loan acquired by his administration would be closely monitored to guarantee transparency and accountability.

As schools prepare to reopen, Governor Kefas stressed the significance of the support and cooperation of tertiary institutions in making the free education policy a reality.

In response, the heads of the institutions pledged their commitment to work hand in hand with the governor in achieving affordable and accessible education for the people of Taraba State.

Representatives from the state university, the College of Education in Zing, the College of Agriculture, the College of Nursing and Midwifery, and the College of Health and Technology in Takum were all present during the meeting.
